AMERICAN Oi! REVIEW
After reissuing three classic British Oi! and punk bands in a row (The Guttersnipes, The Underdogs and Subculture), it is time for Common People Records to release something fresh and new from its own country again! Barcelona’s premier Oi! label choose for Galicia’s Fred And The Perrys and the label is kicking 2016 off strong with the band’s debut EP “Xa Non Hai Xustiza”!
Because don’t let the ridiculous band name fool you, Fred And The Perrys are serious business. From the sick artwork to the raw and pounding sound, these guys aren’t joking around! Straight from the opening track “Estás Ai”, Fred and his Perrys deliver a vicious blend of extremely gritty Oi! with rough ‘n’ tough vocals, but still manage to squeeze in the right amount of melodic guitars to satisfy those looking for a bit of harmony. Either way, these four songs, including the Trotskids cover “Guele D’enfer” (but obviously en español), make you want to clench your fist, sing-along and tear the place apart!
But with “No Corazón” the Perry boys definitely saved the best for last, without a doubt my favorite track of the lot with its killer vocals, powerful chorus and excellent guitar solos! If you like it raw and violent, than Fred And The Perrys’ “Xa Non Hai Xustiza” EP is the 7” you need to check out! Because despite the demo-ish sound, this record is a true powerhouse!
