American Oi! web-zine review

The Hairdryers hail from La Costera, that lays in the shadow of Valencia (Spain) and despite being formed in 2011 already I’d still consider them a ‘new’ band. This because it wasn’t until more recently, December 2014 to be more precise, that these ‘hot air rockers’ released their debut mini-LP entitled “Obsessions” through Common People Records. Time to get your hair, if you have any that is, dried up with The Hairdryers! On “Obsessions” you will find five, or six if you count in the spoken, movie-alike, opener “Settling Accounts” along, tracks of adrenaline pumped punkrock ‘n’ roll and ’77 punk chartbusters! The first ‘real’ song, that is without a doubt the band’s anthem, “Heat Guns” really boots down the door. Catchy as hell, a great sing-along chorus, real rock’n’roll with a bite and when the track breaks down, runs to the end and the saxophone and piano kick in I am sold, this is fan-fuckin’-tastic! A must-hear for anyone who is into fellow countrymen and label mates like The Pennycocks and The Urgent Kicks or their French colleagues The Headliners! But the strength on the A-side lies in diversity, because the next track, “Save The Vinyl”, is a more The Templars or The Veros alike bootboy stomper that’ll get the kids ‘all skrewed up’ on the dancefloor! The B-side kicks off with the up-tempo rocker “One More Lie” and ends with a dose of melodic melancholy on the last two tracks of this 10”, “Moments Of Pain” and the title-track “Obsessions”. But no matter what track you are listening to on The Hairdryers debut, it’s all rock’n’roll with a bite that these three bulls and tattooing byrd produce, and it kicks ass! If you’re a fan of bands like The Pennycocks, The Headliners, The Templars, Vibrators, The Boys etc… pick this bad boy up, ‘save the vinyl’ (comes on black (425 copies) and yellow (limited to 100 copies) wax), give it a spin and get ‘obsessed’ by The Hairdryers!
